How the Grant Finder works

Most grant search tools cost money — Foundation Directory and Instrumentl charge nonprofits hundreds to thousands of dollars a year. This one is free. It pulls live federal opportunities from the public Grants.gov database and combines them with a curated list of private, corporate, and foundation programs we maintain.

You'll get the best matches by being specific about your organization type, focus area, and location. The optional budget question further refines results. Federal grants are sorted by deadline so the most time-sensitive opportunities appear first.

Every result links directly to the funder's own page to apply. Holdings doesn't process grant applications or take a cut — this is purely a discovery tool.

Get application-ready

Most grant applications ask for financial documentation — a recent budget, a profit and loss statement, and clean bank records. Funders who request financials and receive a messy spreadsheet rarely fund that organization.

Holdings includes free accounting and AI bookkeeping for nonprofits, churches, and small businesses — tracking expenses against individual grants and keeping restricted funds separate. It's the financial foundation a grant application needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Grant Finder really free?
Yes. The tool is completely free and requires no account or login. It's powered by the public Grants.gov API for federal grants plus a curated database of private and foundation programs we maintain.
Where do the grant results come from?
Federal results come live from Grants.gov, the official US government grants database. Private, corporate, and foundation programs come from a database Holdings curates and updates regularly. All listings are educational references — verify eligibility and terms directly with each funder.
Do I need a Holdings account to use the Grant Finder?
No. The tool is free and fully usable without any Holdings relationship. Holdings is a financial technology company that offers free accounting, bookkeeping, and business checking — useful for preparing the financials grant applications require, but never required to use this tool.
Can churches and religious organizations use this?
Yes. Select “Church or religious organization” as your org type. The tool surfaces faith-based and community organization eligibility, denominational programs, and federal opportunities open to faith-based organizations.
Will you email me about new grants?
Only if you opt in. After viewing results you can optionally enter your email to get notified when new grants match your profile. We send 1–2 relevant grants per email, no marketing, with an unsubscribe link in every message.
Does Holdings give out grants or loans?
No. Holdings is a financial technology company, not a lender or grantmaker. We do not offer loans, grants, or financing. The Grant Finder simply helps you discover third-party grant opportunities you may be eligible for.

Informational only — not financial, legal, or tax advice. Holdings is a financial technology company, not a lender or grantmaker; we do not offer loans, grants, or financing. Grant listings are aggregated from public and third-party sources for educational purposes and are not endorsements. Verify all eligibility requirements, deadlines, and terms directly with each funder before applying.
