What we are, and aren't
We're not building another AI.
We're building software your AI can talk to.
Every AI company is selling you their AI. Holdings sells you the tools your AI can already use. Bring Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or whatever comes next — the software is built for them, not against them.
Where AI sits in the software changes everything about it.
Today
AI sits beside the software as a helper. You still click through the forms.
Next
AI is the medium. You direct the AI; the AI operates the software; you approve every action.
Why this matters
Software built for humans clicking forms won't retrofit into the AI-medium world.
Every existing business-finance tool — invoicing, accounting, banking — was designed for a human pointing at a screen. Buttons, dropdowns, tab orders, confirmation dialogs — all shaped around eyes and a mouse. Bolting "AI features" onto that shape (a chatbot in the corner, an autocomplete field, a suggested template) leaves the human still driving. The AI is a passenger.
Agent-native software has a different shape. Every screen is also a tool call. Every tool call carries a receipt — an immutable log of who or what did what, and when. Every workflow works when a human runs it, when an agent runs it, or when both do. The trust rule isn't "the AI is smart" — it's "the AI is under supervision, and you can prove exactly what it did."
That's the shape Holdings is built for. Not just for invoicing — for every place money moves through a business: sending invoices, keeping the books, managing the bank account. Invoicing is the first surface an AI can actually run today. Accounting and banking are natively connected already; they get the AI layer next.
What we're building
One shape. Every finance workflow.
Banking (2023) and accounting (2025) built the connected platform. The invoicing MCP (2026) is our first AI-native surface — the first place any AI can actually run a full business workflow end-to-end, with a human on the approval line. Same shape now expands to accounting, banking, donations, and everywhere else money moves through your business.
Agentic Invoicing
No monthly fee. Any AI (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor) drafts, sends, chases, and reconciles invoices. You approve every send.
AI-connected Accounting
Free. Full double-entry books that stay current as the AI operates invoicing — payment and journal entry are the same event.
Connected Banking
Business account since 2023 — natively connected to your books. Every transaction flows into accounting the moment it clears; there's nothing to reconcile because the bank and the books are the same event.
Agentic Donations
Same agentic shape, applied to nonprofit fundraising and donor communication. Give MCP is the wedge for the nonprofit vertical.
Full Agentic Accounting
The books themselves become an agent-operable surface — an accountant, an agent, or you can close a month with the same tool calls.
AI-native banking
Banking joins the agentic surface — AI queries balances, prepares transfers, and authors payout rules, with a human authorizing every move. Doesn't exist yet; the connected platform is what we'll build it on.
Our values
Four rules the product lives by.
Human on the approval line
The AI drafts. The AI sends. The AI chases. But nothing leaves your account without a human approving it. We ship tools, not autonomy.
Every agent action requires your yes. Every action leaves a full audit trail. Trust is the one rule we won't compromise on.
Software with a receipt for every action
If an AI ran an action, you can see exactly what it did, when, and why. Full log, immutable, exportable.
Every MCP tool call is logged with inputs, outputs, and the user who approved it. This is the trust surface agent-native software needs.
Build for the shape that's coming
Software built for human clicks won't retrofit into the AI-medium world. We're building for the shape now — API-first, audit-first, agent-first — even when the market is still clicking forms.
Every screen we ship is also a tool call. Every tool call has a receipt. Every workflow works with a human, with an agent, or with both.
Connected by default
Bank, books, and invoicing write to each other, not around each other. A paid invoice is already in the books. A bank transaction is already reconciled. Every surface shares one schema. And when you need to borrow, we’ve curated a financing partner so you don’t have to shop lenders on your own.
The connected platform has been the moat since 2023. Agentic invoicing extends it; every AI-native layer we add joins the same system.
Founders
Fintech operators who saw the shape coming.
Jason Garcia, Mahalia Thomas, Hunter Davis — veterans of Mercury, Divvy, and Silicon Valley Bank. Founded Holdings in 2022 to build the connected platform. Shipped banking in 2023, accounting in 2025, and the first AI-native surface — the invoicing MCP — in 2026.

Jason Garcia
CEO & Co-Founder
Previously VP of Capital at Mercury, Head of Business Development at Divvy, and Senior VP at Silicon Valley Bank. Leads company strategy and the thesis behind agentic invoicing.

Mahalia Thomas
Co-Founder & Chief Product Officer
Leads product and design across the invoicing app, MCP surface, and the accounting add-on. Focuses on making agent-driven workflows feel effortless to the humans still on the approval line.

Hunter Davis
Co-Founder & CTO
Leads engineering. Built the Holdings platform end-to-end — banking, accounting, the connected system underneath, and the MCP server that lets any AI operate real workflows with a human still on the approval line.
Journey
From bank + books to the shape that's coming.
The team meets
The founding team meets while working together at a fintech company, building products for founders and operators, dreaming of a different shape for financial software.
Company founded
Holdings is incorporated. Original thesis: operators deserve financial tools built for how they actually work, not how banks want them to work.
Banking launches
Holdings' first product ships during the banking crisis — a business account with high-yield APY, FDIC coverage via program banks, and zero monthly fees. Operators finally have an alternative built for how they actually work.
$7M seed round
Holdings announces a $7M seed from top fintech investors — capital to expand beyond banking into the full connected platform.
1,000+ businesses
Holdings crosses 1,000 businesses on the platform, all running their finances through the connected banking + tools layer.
Accounting launches
Full double-entry accounting ships on top of the banking layer. Books stay current as money moves — payment and journal entry are the same event. Banking, accounting, and the free tools now sit on one connected platform.
Invoicing MCP + agentic invoicing
Anthropic ships the Model Context Protocol; the AI-medium shift becomes real. Holdings ships the first agent-native surface on the platform: the invoicing MCP. Any AI (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor) can draft, send, chase, and reconcile with human approval on every action. First realization of the thesis; accounting + banking follow the same shape.
Build the shape that's coming
Engineers, designers, and operators who want to help founders and operators run on AI — not just talk about it.
